For those who are too busy to bother with it, auto emergency kits are available for purchase from your local Walmart, Amazon, or from many auto parts stores; however, you may be able to save a little money and design a kit that meets your personal needs by creating your own. To get you started, here are a few basic items you might include in your kit:

Duffel bag or plastic tote
First Aid Kit
Jumper Cables
Flash Light
Replacement Batteries
Tire Gauge
Mini Tool Kit
Multi-use Knife
Small Air Compressor
Space Blankets
Gallon of Water
Fix a Flat
Road Flares or Triangle Reflectors

Depending on when, how far, and how often you travel, you might also include granola or protein bars, hand warmers, salt or kitty litter (for traction). Tweak your auto emergency kit to meet your own needs, but it is definitely a good idea to keep one in your trunk!
